Ian Francis

Biography

On leaving full time education at King Edward School, King’s Lynn Ian joined the RAF and trained as an Air Electronics Officer.  He retired from the RAF in the rank of Wing Commander; his Service career having been centred mainly on airborne reconnaissance and intelligence associated work.  

Ian was seconded to industry for the flight development of Nimrod and to the United States Navy on special project work.  He commanded an aircrew training school and spent 8 years working in MOD.  Ian has been actively involved in church life and is currently Chair of the Coventry Diocesan Board of Finance. 

He became a magistrate on leaving the RAF chairing both adult and youth courts and was appointed to the Warwickshire Police Authority at its formation in 1996 and is presently Chair of the Authority.
