We Asked
Attendees at Community Forum meetings are asked to identify three local policing issues to be resolved over the coming three month period until prior to the next meeting of the Community Forum. In addition, we ask if there are any more general problems concerning local policing.
You Said
On Wednesday 4th November, at the Southam Community Forum, County Councillor John Appleton raised a complaint that the 01926 415000 switchboard number was very difficult to reach and often did not reply. Mike Edwards, the Police Authority member present at the meeting, brought this matter to the attention of Police Authority staff.
We Did
Warwickshire Police advises that if people are having difficulty getting responses to their calls, they should note the date and time of the call. The call will be investigated and further information will be provided. Members of the public raising such issues allow us to better identifying problems and improve performance. You can contact Warwickshire Police by:
-
visiting your local police station
-
informing the operator when a future call to the switchboard number is answered
-
completing a feedback form on the Warwickshire Police Force website

Warwickshire Police also provided us with the following data for telephone calls made to the 01926 415000 switchboard number.
In 20008/09, 503,323 calls were made, of which 92.8% were answered within the 30 second target, with 479 calls abandoned (less than 1.5 per day).
For the first seven months of 2009/10, i.e. the period from April 1st to October 31st 2009, 300,479 calls were made, of which 96.6% were answered within the 30 second target, with 250 calls abandoned (less than 1.5 per day).
Warwickshire Police has advises that there may be specific incidents which result in abnormally high call volumes that can affect calls being answered on time.
