District & Borough Leads
What is the role of the District and Borough leads within the Police Authority and how do they report back to the communities that they lead?
-
The main role of the District and Borough Leads is to scrutinise, on behalf of the Police Authority, the policing performance in their respective area. They are also responsible for leading the development of locality arrangements and engaging with local communities. They are the local point of contact for communities and individuals who have concerns or issues realting to local policing and are expected to raise those concerns with the Local Police Commanders or to respond on behalf of the Authority as appropriate.
The normal channel of communication is through the Community Forums which are all attended by Police Authority representatives although this may not always be the District/Borough Lead. Alternatively the public can contact their local Lead via the Authority's website.
