Stratford-on-Avon is a local government district of southern Warwickshire in England. The district is mostly rural and covers most of the southern half of Warwickshire. As well as Stratford, the district also includes the towns of Alcester, Southam, and Shipston-on-Stour, and the large villages of Studley and Wellesbourne.

Stratford covers an area 377 Sq Miles (97,657 Hectares or 977 km2) and has an estimated population of 118,800 (mid 2008 estimate), this equates to 122 persons per sq. km.
